Spring 2011 RTW: Prada

Prada is in full gear this spring, poppin up with strips, brights, and prints. Models took to the runway in jungle themed prints in bold strong neons, and platforms of the same. The accessories (striped furs, black leather bags, and sunglasses) gave the outfits the chic upscale kick needed to maintain the whole up scale mood of the collection. Jungle prints combined with stripes make this collection daring and fun, there's something for everyone. Say for instance the colors are too brazen, well tone it down, cause Prada has neutrals! The shapes and silhouettes are classic A line skirts, for the modern sophisticated woman, with pants suits. Color is the name of the game, and i think Prada's got it down for spring 2011

Spring 2011 RTW: Thakoon

So I decided to be a fashion critic for a second, and stop being reporter, so i can talk about spring rtw fashion collections of 2011.

Lets check out: Thakoon

This collection to me is very light and airy, considering the fabrics used. Flower print silks with mesh jackets and body suites. Lets not forget the "heavenly colors" in sky blue, off white, as well as neutrals. He does have a sequin piece tucked in the collection somewhere. Its no wonder he just keeps getting better, with such a young talented mind, the fashion world is his oyster! Of course he was in "The September Issue" documentary showcasing his fashions created for "The Gap". He has Anna Wintor to thank for his instant boost to fame. Since Anna gave her "stamp of approval" to his creative fruition's, the fashion world has embraced him, and even put him in the same categories as up and comers like, Mandy Coon, Grame Amour, and Suno. But really, his collections are super wearable, and as individual pieces, they really make a statement.

Carry on the Legacy....Ya Better!

Hey guys,
I'm bloggin bright and early, coming with the hottest fashion news. So lets get started shall we? As you know Alexander McQueen passed away in 2009, I thought it was due to heart attack, but sadly he committed suicide. The person chosen to carry on his legacy and hard work is... Sarah Burton. She worked with him for years, and feels she can capture the essence of his work. She to me is fully capable of doing so, but she clearly stated she would put a little of her softness into to collections. First let me say this, when i see McQueen, I want McQueen! I don't want anyone "sweetin up" his style! Now evidently this Sarah woman has got quite an extensive fashion background, so i trust she understand how customers behave. I think his style is epic, it combined fantasy, art, and passion. Memorable where his fashion shows, scary yet beautiful in all its glory. Sarah Burton, can you back that up?! She quoted this in WWD "There will always be this McQueen spirit and essence. But of course, I'm a woman, so maybe more from a woman's point of view." So yeah, I'm just a little bit concerned, because i understand that no one can be him, but are people ready for a twist? All i know is i reviewed their fall 2010 rtw collection and to me is wasn't as "edgy" as I anticipated. But I'll give her another chance. :) because this is a big responsibility. reminds me of Donatella's story.

JUST QUICKLY:
I kinda met McQeen once. I was studying fashion in the U.K. and went to his night club one night with a couple of friends. A friend of mine said "hey i cut in line for the bathroom in front of McQueen, and he was so nice!" I'm like yeah right....Then later on i was dancing up on this pedestalish looking platform, and there was a couch infront, and here i am dancing and who is staring me down? MCQEEN lol. I thought it was just some cute guy, but there he was. Yes i know he is gay, but clearly he liked my dancing. He was with some woman, and another guy. He had jeans on nice shoes, and looked just fabulous. Evidently he partied at his club all the time. I wanted to talk to him but i didn't want to come off as a groupie so i stood my distance....Yes, that's my MCQueen Experience. This was back in 2003-2004.

We Miss and Love You Lee Alexander McQueen xoxo r.i.p

ICE and Fashion?

O.k people,
I know that counterfeiting is a big issue in the fashion industry. This business has generated 600 billion dollars world wide, and has become a serious problem over years. Now ICE Director John Morton, has cracked down hard on these counterfeiters, but their in lies a bigger threat....The Internet. Due to the world wide web, hackers and counterfeit companies can set up websites that "look" legitimate. Ive seen counterfeit Louis Vitton, and I must say that it's an embarrassment. Fashion is someones art and hard work, so for some jerk to think that they can just make a knock off and sell it for a fraction of the price, just soo disrespectful. And I don't blame them, cause it wouldn't be a 600 billion dollar industry if people didn't support it! Look, I'm not judging someone who buys knock offs, but then again i am because your selling yourself short! These designers aren't asking for lots of money just to make things out of reach, it unique, quality, and labor intensive at times to produce certain products. Like Louis Vitton, that bag can be passed down from generation to generation. If you cant afford the real one right now, if you really want it, save up. Put a little away each paycheck. But any hoo, I'm rambling. Basically, this blog entry is for consumers to keep abreast to whats going on in the counterfeit world, always research where your buying merchandise from online, and keep in mind that if people keep supporting counterfeit products, the real companies will cease to exist.

Rock and Republic ralley back!

Well,
The word is Rock and Republic got their arses pulled out of the fire. looks like VP corp bought R&R out of bankruptcy for the sum of $57 million, they are now owned by a brand that's also incorporated with the likes of Lee, Wrangler, Russler and Wrangler. They feel like a different approach to the selling of the product might do it better......Surprise to me! Because i didn't even know R&R was considered high end, evidently it was and now they feel selling it at Macy's, J.C. Penny, or Khols. R&R was sold for 57 million, and that was chump change but as of 2009 R&R was only bringing in 1 million dollar revenue, which is not great for a high end brand. The point is that now its gonna be a new year, and their tryin somthin different.....They be aright.

FAMOUS = FASHION DESIGNER?

O.K,
I know my U.S bloggers have seen the commercials for Justin Timberlakes clothing line "William Rast" Biker Bohemian. Now after seeing House of Dereon, it makes me wonder.....does fame mean you know fashion? Granted, these celebs pay for real designers to make creations, and if they like it, they slap there names on it....ITS FASHION! Come on people? Fashion to some is their passion and they take it seriously. I went to school for it, cause i wanted to go deeper into every aspect of it. Then you have people who have been in fashion all there lives. These celebs fall short in actually understanding fashion. As far as fit, marketing, trend analysis, etc. Sure they pay people to think for them, but its a hit to THEIR Ego if the line goes south. Victoria Beckhams line this year did good, including her new bag collection, which apparently is flying off the shelves. But her Denim line...not so good. Now, its a bad distant memory, but had she really took the time to understand her target market and research there lifestyle, fit, and age group, she would know that the customers she was targeting are not going to be wearing neon pink, yellow or green denims, not over the age of 20, if so a small number. So Justin, i do hope you know what your doing, because from what i heard its not doing too good in New York. I saw a camel color jacket that was kinda cute...and his line is sold in Target Stores in the u.s. so, yeah maybe its got a bigger chance of getting a chance?.......Biker Bohemian? hmmmmm

Whats up!!! Its all about Red Bottoms Baby!

Who wouldn't want a pair of Christian Louboutins? Kylie loves em, she wears them all the time. I will be able to afford them soon, but for now I must say that I'll keep content with just admiring them, and seeing which ones im gonna be snatchin up as soon as i can, but please watch and learn! its pretty informative.

Ri Ri Hair

Yes my friends,
Rihanna hair has been through some transformations, I must say. Yeah, she is a daring one when it comes to color, she had gold, black, RED, orange, brown. Its all about trying to find your signature look. Honestly the worst one was the Curly, Larry, and Moe buzz cut she got! But to me she looks best with LONG hair. She has a very Exotic look and the long hair does her more justice to me. I would like to get a chance to style her though, I have some great styling ideas for her. The get up she had on in her "Whats my name" video was not the business to me. But the song is hot, and i just might buy the album! I already bought "Rated R"....Loves it!

Its all about Perfume?!

Natalie Portman.....
I remember when she was the cute little girl on "The Professional", and now look! "Black Swan" is out in theaters (i think), and now i heard she is up for an Oscar. AND she is now the new face of Doir's fragrance called "Miss Cherie". I saw her in "Closer" and thought she was excellent, I dont know what the hell the committee is thinking sometimes. Like, Johny Depp is such a good actor, and it's like they refuse to give him his props, I'm outraged! I'm so glad that i finally get to vent, and I know this went from perfume to movies, but my goodness, he should have won an Oscar by now, I mean when he was is "Sweeny Todd" he was great!......o.k back to fragrance. At least Natalie Portman is being a spokes model for Dior and not trying to create her own line. I'm tired of everyone famous thinking "oh, i act,or i sing, TIME TO MAKE A FRAGRANCE" come on! And no offense but they all smell funky! all except J LO "Glow", but honestly, im not trying to diss anyone, because hey they're fabulous and got it like that, but chill with the franchises. I love your music, but i don't want to smell like you, I'm not a fanatic. Then again, i guess if there is money to be made, they're gonna do it!?

Eliza Doolittle!

Almost everything i like its fashion related. That's why this video stood out. I was watching Kelis 4th of July video, and happened upon this cute music video. I love it and the song,(might buy the album) the fashion feel in this video is vintage and modernist... I love the fashion, and how they blend certain themes you wouldn't thing go together. Well enjoy tell me what you think! lol I love the light switch!

BACK WITH MAC!!! According to WWD

So, where should I begin?

Well lets start from the left with Madame GAGA, of course we all know she was "ViVa La Glam" spokes person, well the campaign went very well. The For Our Lips campaign was MAC AIDS Fund’s most successful to date, so now they signed her on for another year, and I do hope that her image can continue to raise money and support for this cause to some day find a cure and give hope to many. Then we got Nicki Minaj in the spot light, with a shade created by her (and Mac) called "Pink Friday", in tribute to her album that just released November. Honestly this shade looks like something MAC has already introduced, nothing special, but for all you Minaj fans out their, I'm sure this is a collectors item. So that's the news in makeup so far. I have a lot of makeup, so currently I'm burnt the hell out! I don't think I will be posting and new hauls for makeup in the immediate future, but i will keep you up to date on makeup news, etc. Don't worry, ill keep this category hot!

Resort RTW 2010 Anna Sui

I feel Anna played it safe this season for resort. To me there is no flair to this seasons resort for her. But I love the Cherry Dress and the simplicity of the styling. I'm just so used to what i like, but for once i wanted to post something that i normally wouldn't. I must say this collection is growing on me though. Well enjoy.

Dec 2, 2010

Resort RTW 2011: 3.1 Phillip Lam

I also love 3.1 Phillip Lam resort collection because of the energy, like sun beams emanating from the clothes. The colors are brassy and sexy. I look at these pieces individually and feel inspired. The first look from the left has an 80's feel to it. I was discussing on IFB recently about, whether or not 80's fashion is considered vintage. I think so, because that's a while ago. It has such a strong tone in these fashion collections now a days. They pay tribute to the past, including the 70's. Fashion recycles, of course, somethings are timeless, but honestly i wouldn't have it any other way, because everyone brings something different to the table. 3.1 Phillip never veers from what makes it great.

Sorry couldnt help myself!

Love Kylie and more Louboutin shoes Hott!

Side note: Kylie!

Hey, o.k,
I know this is throwing off the topic. i still have five more designers to review for resort RTW 2011, but I just had to post the newest Kylie Video. I love the fashion featured in it, the Louboutins Kylie is wearing is AMAZING! And lets not forget the PAC-MAN head peices by Giles Deacon featured on the runway of Milan! Loves it! Although I wouldnt have picked this song for the third single, I still love Kylie!

Resort RTW 2011 Mui Mui

Follow my blog with bloglovin

Mui Mui to me is my new Betsey J for resort. These fun patterns bring a different mood to resort wear, not too serious, versatile in spirit, and consistent in fun! I would love to wear these items separately with solids, to me it has more of an impact. The heart patterns remind me of being young (under 10) in the 80's, when my mom would sew ruffle denim dresses in pinks, and neons. Then the accessories that i would layer on, bangles of different colors, and big chunky plastic and sparkly rings. Ahhh memories. Not to mention the styling in this collection is hot, and the makeup gives it that extra umph. This collection is versatile in it's market as far as appealing to women of any age, it does just that. But I'm eager to see what Mui Mui has in store for spring/summer 2011

Resort 2011 RTW Dior

Ah yes, Christian Dior

Stylish, reliable, and always romantic. I loved his fall collection, i featured it, but i have to admit, i definitely go for flirty cuts and sweet colors. Dior had a beautiful color palette this resort season, with blacks, pinks, and pastel greens. Ultra cute designs and fabric treatments make this soo wearable! And of course the trend "half moon" is apparent in this collection which contributes to its "cutesy" feel. There is not much to be said about this collection, but just take a minute, and gaze at if for a second. What looks familiar?.....Jessica Alba is wearing that pink top on the cover of EllE this month! LoL made ya look!

Resort for 2011!

Yes just like that! I'm gonna start, i don't see the sense of doing a introductory blogg, so from now on just start! So the first I'm gonna review...wait first let me say i decided to just do my top 5 that stood out to me, because there are TONS of designers. First lets do
Stella McCartney

I'm just so satisfied with this collection because its everything feminine and then some! I am sincerely feeling the vintage floral patterns, as well as the flower embroidery and embellishments. And look at the cut of the jackets, so chick and sexy. The overall feel to me is spring but this is definitely resort. I can envision myself on the boat for vacation looking oh so sexy and sophisticated. As I said before, Stella understands femininity and sensuality in fashion, which she applies to her collections every year. Honestly her background as far as her dad has nothing to do with her talent, that's all her. She "brings it" every year. I love her collections! The color story and theame HOT!!1

Just Twittering Away

So, I have started up twittering today, and Twitted some cute shoes from the ones I've been reviewing. I do have to apologize form my posting outfits on chictopia, my camera is garbage, so i have to upgrade that real quick. any hoo, my goal is to be a chictopia Icon, but in order for me to do that, i have to define my style more, can I do it? We shall see!

WWD Turns a Century old!

Well, first off, I'm subscribing to WWD paper and online so that i can provide my viewers with the best fashion news available. I love Woman's Wear Daily, the editorials are amazingly written, so very detailed, and makes you feel like your in the front row at Fashion week. They also have a special shoes and accessories issue. Well they are turning 100. I was walking through my super market and happened upon this gigantic issue available on news stand all the way up to March 2011. Its packed with adds from well known designers such as Tommy Hill, Chloe' Moschino, and Ralph Lauren, just to name a few. The also have adds from way back in the day, like Diane
Von Furstenburg, and Janice Dickenson. They also have a cool time line of WWD to reflect on. I bought this because I feel its a collectors edition for every fashion obsessed guru to own. Its huge, but packed with fashion! Loves It!

And did you notice that I hit 100 blogs and WWD a huge fashion publication turned 100? That is so cool!

O.K time to review the spring collections!

Well I know its the holidays, but fashion waits for no one, and every stylist buyer and fashionista needs to know whats going on, in advance. So we got the spring and resort wear to talk about, and that's great because i love spring and summer, the color palettes should be interesting for 2011 so This blog is to get you ready set go for Spring.....Yeah, I need a nap.

Fashion Designer: Iman

I had to talk about her, because she is a designer of jewelry I think its called International jewelry. I know It sells on the HSN. I think that she is one classy woman. She is still married to David Bowe and she is still beautiful at 50 or 60...I know i will probably have to update this post because i went tailgating and was really tired. so i apologize in advance for not being thorough but ill make it up to you. I have to take a nap now, bye bye. But she is an awesome designer and former super model with a make up line for women of color. Love ya iman!

Fall Review Anna Sui RTW

So the tenth runway on my list is Anna Sui. The patterns grabbed me, I admired the fearless styling. I posted advice months ago about how to style patterns without looking rediculous. I even listed the rules, and I must say that Anna Sui followed all of them. I love the leggings, and the color choices are creative and bold. Its a very strong collection, utilzing fur and scenic mountain tops to contrast with the "loud" yet beautiful patterns, is very clever. This collection definitely showcases movement. One sweater looks like it's pointing left in on the runway, in the picture above, the models dress is pointing up (looks like arrows). I watched the runway show and couldn't help feeling hypnotized....I wonder if that's the reason why i like this collections so much. Maybe the colors, patterns, textures, and movement is just an illusion?....Nah, I love it, its energy, its fearlessness, just grabs at me. Hope you like.

Fall Review ADAM RTW

I was drinking a glass of dessert wine when I happen upon ADAM. This RTW collection was low key but detailed. The color palette was mostly neutrals, and the details gave a mundane look chicness and flare. Honestly the styling of the pieces is what got my attention in the first place. The fit is very becoming on the models. It is so ordinary, these pieces, but the way Adam put his own spin on it, and the attention to detail is really dainty. I never noticed him before, but i will continue to keep an eye on him, I cant wait to see what he has in store for spring 2011. These pieces are definitely wearable, and worth the investment.

I CANT DO IT ANYMORE ROSS!!!!

I went to Ross over the weekend, i went to look for a new coat. I didn't find anything i liked and that's been happening more often then not. I cant shop In their anymore, it just seems that everything is picked over. Then Ive noticed a pattern, certain colors, like turquoise and gray are abundant in their clothes. I got a dress from their that was cute, but then i realize the hem was all twisted on the arm and i couldn't get past it. Just a whole bunch of garbage! what in the world? I might by chance find something, for example, i found a Betsy Johnson ring from her "Tea Party" collection, but it was missing a stone....wait i didn't buy it because of that so i bought the ring off of e-bay, see? Fail. but you can get Betsey Johnson jewelery for a fraction of the price, but that's if your willing to wait, which i think you should. But this blog isn't about Betsey Johnson Its about the abundance of garbage clothes that seem to be filling this store. I told you about the shoe incident and im just done. You might catch me buying random "brica brack" but other then that, forget about IT.

Third Spot Light Designer: Isabel Marant

This designer caught my eye in Nylon magazine this year. I believe it was the November issue. While looking through, i saw a beautiful pair of sequin Capri in silver/gray. The top looked like a stripe cashmere sweater, and I thought to myself, I want that look! Upon investigating, i found more of her RTW fall collection at Style.com and was absolutely loving it. She is a french designer who started out with a jewelry collection in 1989, then eventually branched out into fashion with the vision of clothes that suited clientele interested in "Tomboy Chic". Well she succeeded, and is known now as one of the most innovative designer on the Paris strip. Her collection for Fall RTW 2010 is very relaxed but modern in colors and styling. This collection is definitely wearable in the overall "look", meaning it is realistically put together and takes comfortable to a more "sexier" level. I love designers who maintain their target markets integrity consistently. Yay for Isabel :P

FILA is Back?

I knew i was seeing the Billboard ads, but i was in denial. FILA has been out of style for years. So out of style it would be almost embarrassing to wear. Its like a Coogi Sweater. FILA is like the one hit wonder of fashion. Its like the Fat Albert edition of Fubu. oh boy, I applaud them for trying to revive a classic, but lets be real no one wants to wear FILA because in the shoe world, once something is out, its out. Tennis shoes have a funny life span and a short one. The tennis shoe industry reminds me of the car industry in the sense of, when something new comes out you either want to trade it in for the new ones, or just try to upgrade the ones you have already, ever hear of shoe art? a great way to revamp you tennis shoes, except even that might be out. I remember when they use to do that to Timberlands? Just good luck FILA marketing crew, because i dont feel good about this one, some classics need to stay in the books. The Celebs used in this campaign is not the type to bring a classic back in style. You need Kanye or Neptunes, even Black eyed Peas, because they usually bring styles from the past and make em cool. so yeah get to work Marketing crew, think outside the box.

Fall Trend: Caramel Coats

Ooo, the thought of the different cuts and trims of this trend gives me goosebumps! So versatile, and classic, the Caramel coat can fit any occasions. I am currently in the mood for one. I think they just scream fall, and makes getting dressed easier. I love the texture of this coat, the color makes for a easy tone to style, and lets face it, this season, Caramel is the new black. It looks great again almost any skin tone. There are Wrap coats that need a belt to close, then of course the button down. I don't think there are zip ups, i believe in keeping the modern 70's ish style alive with just a hint of flare. Please feel free to try these on for size, Im sure you'll find one that suites you well. :)

Fall Review Moschino

Time to review this fall collection with an obviously "Texas Cowboy" Charm. I love the whole southwestern vibe. It so original this season with the tons of 50's, 60's, 70's, then floral and black. this collection is so smooth and cool, with its beautiful pops of color here and there. I saw gold trimming on knits with colorful fur in different textures. Oh and lets not miss the Accessories, very hot. they look sci-fie to me metal and leather, very darling. Models strut the runway with belts in the brand name and black stockings which to me just created uniformity, maintain consistency of the line and don't for get the black shades. And the neutral colored jacket with the black leather fringe is so it! The hats are an overlooked accessory cowboy hats are really hot for winter fall. The line is sexy and cool very Caliente'.

Fall Review Giorgio Armani

I have 4 more to go and so I couldn't miss this one. This Fall RTW collection is very thorough in my opinion. The colors are bold, and with the velvet create an extremely dignified look, just without the head rush of funky styles. I mean for once these colors used, but in a very wearable upscale collection. the colors still have that breath of fall and the textures are just exceptional. Some patterns in this look remind me of being young, walking through the fabric store, and gazing thinking to myself, who on earth would want that? Little did i know that any pattern can be pulled off with a little style and creativity. I can say this collection makes me think 'outside" the box in terms of color and styling. I love how some colors just intertwine and meld together, but not on purpose. The colorist at Armani really has an eye for fashion. I trust that the buyers for Lord and Taylor, Bloomingdale's, and any other high class retailer will be salivating for this collection, it so rich with strong bold themes, and very wearable.

Fall Review Marni RTW

Been digging, and found another collection that made me swoon. The fall collection for Marni is vintage and lovely. Well, lets start off with the design as a whole. Very 80's, but the patterns resemble the 70's. One of the dresses remind me of a dress i saw rose from the show "Golden Girls" wear! the accessories had a lot of eyelet through out, and once again 70's vibe. The colors were brilliant and melded together harmoniously, Strong patterns made even the most plain silhouette pop. what was also interesting was the collar designs and pant lengths, which reminded me of the late 60's. The leather gloves added gave the whole ensemble a hint of elegance. I'm a sucker for vintage, and this collection is riddled with it. I believe this was showcased at Milan fashion week, but I will hunt for her wears in the U.S very stellar collection this is.

Fall Review Suno fall 2010

You know Suno?
I will be honest, i didn't, but this fall collection let me know. I couldn't help but notice the array of tribal prints amongst the neutral toned palettes of black, white, camel caramel, etc. They created streamline cuts with eye popping color, enough to wake the fall up! With a not so serious take on fashion, Suno comes through with a shock to the system shaking things up with vintage geometric prints incorporated with neon's, blues and even a hint of pink. Not conformed, and that's great, because I'm glad to know that not all the collections need to go in the serious "fall criteria" direction. Just keep it real! that's what they did, and made sure that they came out stylish and funky with it. I think its modern and fresh, it makes you feel free and creative. They have peacock feathers featured on a ankle length dress, just precious. I like labels that make me feel different, different is always better!

Fall Review L'WREN SCOTT

What I'm thinking?
Proper, Prim, and well fitted comes to mind. I love this collection because she used velvet in a classic french feel. The clothes made me smile, it's lovely and realistic. The high choker collar with the broach, the velvet in rich colors, along with awesome accessories sure to be the talk of the fashion world. These clothes are sassy and chic with a HOT color palette. Just absolutely wearable. There is a leather dress in the collection that shows leather isn't just punk rock, but bitter sweet too. I want to commend her on the hats, it adds a smart whimsy to the ensemble. Sleek and trendy all the way, and I love the pops of color like lime greenish yellow here and there. It definitely says fall, and the black and white penguin cocktail dress is adorable. Everything in this collection makes sense, and does what its meant to do, which is maintain a comfortable feel. I can see a lot of buyers jumping at this collection, because they know that being comfortable and sexy is always in style.

Fall Review Jason Wu

So Wu-hoo for Wu
I'm really liking him, I mean the essence and sensible feel in his collection this fall is really understated if you ask me. Maybe I'm star struck? I mean his dress was worn by Michelle Obama at the presidential inauguration, and ever since then his name has been in WWD on the regular. But lets get back to this collection. I must say, he incorporated masculine themes and styling to create a line up fit for a mature elegant taste. Well he's got trousers sitting on the hips, plaid knee length jackets, and scoop neck blazers, just to name a few. He also has fuzzy wool (i think) lapels on jackets, paint treatments on coats, dainty polk-a-dots, metallic treatments on fabrics, and trimmings made of feathers. Also keep in mind his dressy dresses with silky draping and embellishments as delicate as dew drops. This line can be translated to any age bracket, it has a way of being trendy without out trying too hard. The cuts and fit is general, so anyone can really wear it. And some of the dresses have a "couture" feel to it. Basically he is beyond up and coming, he has arrived and i believe the best is yet to come.

Fall Review RODARTE

This is one of my faves, Rodarte has maintained the style of distressed fabrics in pastel colors. I love the mix of vintage floral patterns amongst the layers of soft silk, charmuse, and knits. I love different knits in this collection because its a no stress method of practicality. The trimming and bulkiness of the line ads to the edge of the clothing in its entirety. The colors look "springy" to me, but the overall feel and warmth screams fall. it reminds me of "Raggedy Ann" in the snow, and girly with an edge. There are patterns that remind me of tribal wear, but they contrast well with the delicate theme. The white on white is just fabulous, the details cant be seen from a far though, off white can be tricky in photos. Rodarte is always true to its style, but i hope they will add more of an element of surprise because consistency can easily turn to boredom.

Fall Review 3.1 PHILLIP LIM

At first glance i would say this fall collection is mature in its colors and silhouettes, but playful in textures and patterns . This collection plays on a number of different moods from sequins and satin blazers, to cozy knits in solid colors. He did have a denim look refreshingly placed amongst the groups of trio colored wool. The giraffe patterned suit is respectable, considering its usual appearance is in summer. Variety is apparent in this collection, imagination soars on the number of combinations within this collection, as well as the potential of the pieces alone. With the collections classic cuts, any body type would be flattering. Fresh and nostalgic mixed with fun and fresh...that's a mouth full, and an eye full too. I mean just check out Emma Stone on the cover of Nylon Magazine the October 2010 issues ;)

My Review of Fall/Winter 2010

Bringing you the style? I decided to actually do a review of Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2010. I love clothes, and I just feel that it's my duty to make others love it as much as I do :P So my next couple of blogs will be me reviewing my favorite collections. I actually should be showing some new spring/summer 2011 story board trends, But you know what? As a Trend forecaster, i still want to do my fall reviews. I don't mind being exhausted, as long as its for fashion! So basically I'm really putting my writing skills into gear. My tone might be a little more "professional". So please stay tuned. :)

Victoria Beckhom

Now for my second designer spot light entry.

I decided to do Victoria Beckhom as the Designer of the week for me, because I cracked open the Harpar's Bazaar runway report, and there it was, her line at fashion week 2010. I must say, i found it very chic and fancy. I looked at the clothes and wondered to myself "Did Vicki B put her closet on the Runway?" Everything in this collection looked like something SHE would wear, and don't get me wrong, i mean there's nothing wrong with that, but i like a line with versatility. Everyones Taste is different, so when i saw the knee length skirts and the platforms, i was like Hmmm this is reminiscent of her photo shoot she did for EllE magazine circa 2009 (any season). At any rate, the line is more dressy and cocktail party-ish but consistent and functional. Oh, and in case you don't know, she is a former spice girl, and yes i loved them in high school, my favorite was Baby Spice. Yeah I'm not ashamed to admit it. She married a famous Soccer Player David Beckhom, and she has 3 kids for him. I believe she lives in America now she is from England. She started designing when she came to America, i think, don't quote me. She did have a jeans line that flopped, but see, that's because when you don't go to school for fashion or have experience, you can fall short on some key elements of design. Its not enough to draw the clothes, you have to keep in mind the wearability and functionality of the clothes. So that didn't work, but her green dress at fashion week did get picked up by some prominent retailers so cu dos, and keep up the good work!

The Urban Decay "Naked" Pallette

So,

Back to make up, now I've waited on this palette for a while. it was sold out at the store, and i had to go on the waiting list but i finally got the email telling me it was available. Its the Urban Decay neutral palette of eye shadows called "Naked" palette. There are tons of looks that you can do with this palette. It definitely works for me because I'm not into "clownish" looking makeup and colors, so yeah I'm excited about it. Its coming in the mail, but yes indeed, it is hard to find and when it hits shelves it will be gone quick. Its like urban decay makes these palettes and doesn't expect it too sell so fast. This palette is definitely worth the money so try it.

Make Sure You Get It!

It came to me as i was remembering an unfortunate incident that happened to me at Ross. The Ross Department store down the street from me is HIDING all the 9.5 and 10 size cute shoes. I've been their on numerous occasions and have found only one shoe of the pair i want. Then after endlessly searching the store, along with help from the sales people. Still nothing is found. How can that Happen? I think someone is hiding it who works their, and is doing that so that when they're ready to buy it, they know where the other shoe is. Sad I know, but I had to get that off my chest. This issue is not for you guys, its for customer service. The shoe i wanted was a nude or pale color patent leather pumps or leather, even suede. Guess makes em, so do other companies and to me, it's the little black dress of the shoe world. It goes with anything, and will never go out of style. I will buy my pair, I suggest you keep a pair in your closet for any emergency outfit shoe need. :P

Spring trend forcast!

Well, it looks as though the November issues of the fashion magz are out with its resort wear and spring 2011. i like what i see, although i feel some are repeats. I mean of course the resort wear is always gonna have that sailor element with the nautical stripes etc. But there are some good trends that i think is worth taking notice. I will be sure to up date you on that soon. If i have anymore fall trends i will post it, i think i only have one more and i don't see it being too hot. Well, spring is coming up on this blog keep in mind winter hasn't officially started. And i don't know if "Tendress" is a brand or what, but i know i love this pic and i think if depicts spring as i would...Peace.

Chloe' Oops!

Its looks as though the creative director or stylist didn't make sure that Ch1oe' products where the only products advertised in their ad. Basically, the model is wearing a YSL belt, and through further investigation, the coat is not Chloe' brand either. I don't know what the big deal is, I mean i can see what the uproar is about but i feel that maybe it could have passed if only a savvy fashionista did not spot the error and blow it up. Its obviously a perfume ad but still, make sure your thorough. Lets face it in the retail world, its all about numbers and competition, trust me Ive worked in it for years. You have to dot your i's and cross your t's because Women's Wear Daily will get ya! Well I'm done, i don't know if they'll pull the ad or not, i don't think they should, to me it shows confidants in their brand if they don't care about showcasing another brand in their ads. it say "yeah, I got this. and?"

Gap missed the mark?

O.k,
I was gonna blog about this initially when it first happened. Yes i wanted to talk about what the Gap was doing to their logo, but i gave it time, because i just knew that they would come to their senses. Basically if you didn't know, Gap decided to try to change their logo, and of course the public didn't respond to it too well. I personally did not like it, i felt it reminded me of a computer company logo, and it look like they where trying too hard to be simple and chic but no, it looked simple and cheap. So of course people said other things, (the video above can show you exactly what) and so they clicked on the trash can in the corner of the PowerPoint presentation screen, so to speak. They canned it! yay. But i don't know, are people afraid of changed, or is this just another attempt from the Gap to drum up good marketing attention and sales. Because lets face it, Gap sales have not been the best in recent months, I remember when they came out with that expensive "Khaki" campaign and it was a huge fail! I mean they didn't dress it up, it was just a white shirt and khakis. Boring! But I'm sure they learned their lesson, what i think they need is to do a new designer campaign to invoke "positive curiosity" to the brand. I understand the clothes are supposed to have mass appeal, but sometimes they can look redundant. But their a long deep rooted brand, so i believe in there potential.

Rugged Boots!

Hot Hot Hot!!!!!!!!!
These are so cool trendy and "dressable". This is an exert from Lucky Magazine (love them) It shows a good variety and color scope. Rest a sure theres a design for everyone. These boots can be polished and shined, or ruff and worn. Lucky Mag suggest pairing them with skinny jeans, great suggestion. Me personally, I would pair it with a feminine piece such as a ruffle skirt or nice waist level pants, not too long, but short enough to show some cute socks in my Oxford shoes. I always try to go daring. But of course the celebrities in the picture choose a more dressed down look. Keep in mind that this shoe can be dressed up, with a touch of creativity. I know I'm definitely getting a pair.

6th Fall Trend Trad!

Proper like! (British tee hee!) 6th Fall Trend

Trad!!!!!

I couldn't resist this trend, because It reminds me of London. I guess its called Trad, its basically a 3 piece suit top with any bottom you want. like it would be the vest, blazer, and button down shirt on top, with jeans or a ruffle dress, hey even shorts. When going for the Trad look, keep in mind fabrics like tweed, wool, and cotton in neutral tones, or any heavy weight fabric. Accessories should be stud earrings with Bow Ties, Gloves, Hats, and Gloves. O.k yes i did add an umbrella, it just seemed fitting. shoes of course are Oxfords or Rugged Boots. I didn't put it, but cute pattern socks in neutral colors would be great with capries. Try fun laces too, why not accessories the shoe too. Recent season, there have been a noticeable acceptance to some masculine elements in womens wear. So watch out guys! A little light on dialog, sorry but this trend doesn't need much description, just have fun with it. and oh, don't be a afraid of patterns and romantic blouses in cotton, satin, and silk. Enjoy!

Designer of the Week New Theme

Hello again, I decided to created a new section simply called "Designers Now". Basically I talk about a specific fashion designer in more detail. I feel it not only keeps me on my toes, but also keeps my bloggers informed. So designer of this week is:

Stella McCartney!
And why not, before I google her, I just want you to know that I already knew a good much about her in advance. I know she is daughter of the famous (and cutest Beetle) Paul McCartney, and she did go to a very well known design school. When your a fashion design major usually at the end of the last year you have to take part in the Senior Fashion show. Well, from what i understand she got Naomi Camble to model for her! Hey, take advantage of your good fortunes in life. Stella to me has a great eye for wearable and sleek fashions. I loved her Lingerie line, very delicate and sweetly colored. She understands the female form, and all her silhouettes would be fitting for any body type. Now i will be honest and say that i wasn't too impressed with her line this year for Fall. I just felt it was missing a key interesting element that made it just......Stella? Alright alright it was boring, o.k? I'm sorry i couldn't hold it in! But don't get me wrong, she is still a good designer, but with age she is getting better. Oh, you should take a look at her summer line for 2009/2010, just beautiful, the fashion show and everything was simply stunning. But basically this info is off the top of my head. I hope you are appreciating a different perspective. OK done.

Rag & Bone Fall 2010

Lets talk ready to wear fall clothes. Since were trending, I'm researching, and finding that some lines stay consistent to one trend, then some brands explore a combination of one or two or more. Rag and bone combines plaid, Nordic, and trad style. Their fall runway show looks like an army of "cozy" textured super model soldiers ready to invade your closet! I want them to, because i just love "wearable" clothing. I've never been a couture type of person, leave that to the movies, i want realism. That's an art too, looking "normal". I'm rambling, so let me get to my point, This line to me is very realistic in terms of inspiration, and versatility. Eventually i will find other words to use, but for know its fitting, my sixth trend coming soon. But enjoy Rag & Bone Fall 2010. and my grammatical errors!

5th Trend Knits with Ribbon Intertwined!

This is a fun trend. I've never really seen chunky knit sweaters with ribbons intertwined before, and I must say, I love it! Granted its pastels, but if you ask me, the whole you cant wear this color that color to me is nonsense. You can pull off pastels in fall/winter, its the way you wear it. Also there are different shades and tones of every color, I think it fits. The pastel and neutral colors fell so refreshing against the heavy fall tones. I feel people should be more daring with this trend, keep it comfy, meaning don't layer too much, the thick textures will clash with unnecessary layering. You'll look HOT and not in a good way but "uncomfy". Also accessories i suggest is pearls, big and small along with patent leather shoes and bags. I didn't place a bag in this pick, but I'm sure you can visualize what color and design would best suit this story board. Oh and lets not forget lace, but keep it delicate, don't make it overpowering colors, nude lace would be good. And of course Knit Uggs or snow looking boots is just darling. cozy cozy cozy. Oh and dont forget those knit headbands, its all the rage really :)

Makeup Finally!

O.k,
The other day i just realized that i have a Make Up section, well I'll be darned! Im not a big makeup person, but i do have a good amount of makeup, and for now im satisfied, but this collections is what Im trying to get almost all of. Its the Venomous Villains collection by MAC. My favorite collection is Cruella Devils, the colors go with my skin, and i love the eyeshadow. The only thing i don't understand is why they didn't create a green, because Cruella wears a green eyeshadow. Hey, just look out for more make up post, I mean fashion and makeup goes together like sugar and spice, so i cant half step that!

The September Issue

Now, I always love to find anything fashion. So when I saw this in my netflix Que, I had to try it, come on know. Anna Winters the head head woman of Vogue? I couldn't resist it. It was fashion from head to toe. I am currently in the process of starting my own magazine, and I assure you, it will be something worth giving attention to. This movie is a documentary about the day and life of Vogue magazine. You get to see the fabulous life of Anna Winter, but even better you get to see how vogue makes its September issue. Usually the September issue is so jam packed, because its one of the major fashion transitions, and its just basically the fall wear. It has everything including jewelry, beauty in reference to make up. For other people who are heavy into fashion, you will definitely recognize some faces, Andre, Vera Wang, just to name a few. And to me its a great opportunity to see how fashion week is. Me I understand every aspect of fashion from how clothes are made how to make clothes how to sell it, marketing positioning, color everything. I would not say school is necessary, but i will say an education makes things a lot easier. Any way give this docu a chance. Its a must for Fashion industry students, and for fashion lovers alike.

Louis Vuitton Forever!

Yes, Its always been a dream of mine to own an actual bag by Louis. I would never wear a knock off of any bag, I mean no offense to people who do, but it just doesn't fell right. To me it feels like carrying a thin brown paper bag in the pouring rain. I know, but all dramatics aside, i respect any designers art and would not accept "knock offs" of any kind but i digress, because this post is actually about a new Jewelry collection by Louis. I thought it was great considering they are a brand that speaks volumes when it comes to classic, rich, and timeless. Now this jewelry line should reflect just that. It should uphold the talents and vision displayed by the brand over the many years. I trust they will, I wonder if its limited addition, hope so!
